Compassionate Care for Every Body

Eating disorders and body image struggles can affect people of all body sizes, genders, ages, and backgrounds. Whether you are navigating disordered eating, body shame, food anxiety, perfectionism, binge eating, restriction, purging behaviors, over-exercise, or feeling disconnected from your body, you deserve care that is compassionate, respectful, and grounded in evidence-based support.

At Transform & Renew Counseling, eating disorder and body image therapy is not focused on weight loss or changing your body to be “acceptable.” Our work is grounded in a Health at Every Size® aligned, size-inclusive approach that centers well-being, body respect, emotional healing, and your lived experience.

Therapy can support individuals navigating concerns such as anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, ARFID, orthorexia, body dysmorphia, emotional eating, and other eating disorder or disordered eating symptoms.

Our Approach to Eating Disorder & Body Image Therapy

Recovery is deeply personal, and healing looks different for every individual. Our approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based care while honoring your autonomy, lived experience, and relationship with your body.

Health at Every Size® Aligned

Treatment is not weight-focused. Our approach centers body respect, emotional well-being, joyful movement, and sustainable healing rather than pursuing weight loss as a treatment goal.

Size-Inclusive Care

People of all body sizes deserve respectful, evidence-based eating disorder treatment without shame, stigma, or assumptions based on appearance or weight.

Collaborative Support

With your consent, we can collaborate with physicians, psychiatrists, dietitians, and other providers to help support coordinated and comprehensive care.

Evidence-Based Treatment

Therapy may integrate approaches such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Family-Based Treatment (FBT), body image work, and emotional regulation support.

Trauma-Informed & Compassionate

Eating disorders are complex mental health conditions often connected to emotional pain, perfectionism, trauma, identity struggles, anxiety, or coping patterns developed over time.

Centered Around Your Experience

We believe you are the expert of your own experience. Therapy is collaborative and focused on helping you reconnect with your needs, values, emotions, and inner strengths.

This practice is committed to HAES® principles including weight inclusivity, respectful care, eating for well-being, health enhancement, and life-enhancing movement.

You Don’t Need to “Look Sick” to Deserve Support

Many people struggling with disordered eating or body image concerns wonder if things are “serious enough” to ask for help. Eating disorders can affect people of every body size, age, gender, culture, and background.

Support may be helpful if food, movement, body image, perfectionism, or self-worth feel like they are taking up more space in your life than you want them to.

You might notice:

  • Constant thoughts about food, weight, or body image
  • Guilt, anxiety, or shame around eating
  • Binge eating, restriction, purging, or feeling out of control
  • Compulsive exercise or movement tied to shame
  • Body checking, comparison, or avoiding social situations
  • Feeling disconnected from your body or unsure how to trust yourself

Therapy offers a nonjudgmental space to understand what is happening, reduce shame, build coping skills, and begin reconnecting with your body and yourself in a more compassionate way.

Eating Disorder Therapy & Assessment Services

Support is tailored to each individual’s unique experiences, symptoms, emotional needs, and recovery goals. Therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based care.
